BRIEF HISTORY OF SGC
Sovereign Grace Church (SGC) is an evangelical, Reformed, and Baptist local church established in 1983. Originally named Malate Reformed Baptist Church, SGC was founded under the leadership of Pastor Rene Maramara, with guidance from the elders of Cubao Reformed Baptist Church.
Over the years, our congregation has grown and evolved, firmly embracing reformed theology while continually striving to meet the spiritual needs of our community in a rapidly changing world.
In its early days, SGC members gathered in a small house in Malate, Manila. As God graciously added to our numbers, the church relocated multiple times to accommodate our growing congregation.
Currently located at the heart of Manila in Quezon City, SGC has transferred through more than 16 worship places. For now, we welcome guests to join us for Sunday worship services at the Asian Theological Seminary.
WHO WE ARE
We are deeply rooted in the historic Christian faith, upholding the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith. This confession guides our teachings and practices, reflecting our commitment to sound doctrine, God's sovereignty, and Scripture's authority in all aspects of life.
Our mission is to glorify God in all we do, proclaiming His sovereignty and grace through worship, discipleship, and service.
We aspire to be a church that shines the light of Christ in Manila, impacting families, workplaces, and communities for the Kingdom of God.
THE CONGREGATION
We are a close-knit community of families, students, and working adults dedicated to regularly worshipping and studying God's Word together. Our mission is to glorify God by making disciples who follow Him, love His Word, and love one another.
